'My' charity that, helps children with heart conditions, has a website that has a message board. The web host has given up (he is a volunteer) and won't reply to our messages or hand over the key passwords etc to the new one.
As a result we get inundated with posts that by their nature is inapropriate (some are just outright disgusting). As 'admin' we only have the capability of deleting these posts when they appear and would like to know if it would be possible to block or stop these post/ers getting through in the first place or are we scuppered untill we have all the infor from the exhost?
Is it members of the message board that are posting unwanted messages? If so then depending on the message board software you could either ban them by their username or by their IP address.
If it is anonymous posts then these are usually created by bots so you would have to add a CAPTCHA to the submit page so that the bots would not be able to post.
Thanks. The posts are not by our members but there only seems to be about 4 different user names plus gobblbegook ones. I delete them straight away as I know all the users on the boards.
I am going to have to get the codes and passwords to sort this out aren't I?
