adobe backup

I cant seem to get the incremental bit to work ive made a full backup on a ext drive but cant work out how to add to it ,I select the drive letter and then the backup path then make a new folder ,then its back to destinations settings ,but its the previous backup file with the browse box on the end I dont understand it tells me to load the previous backup file to determine the size ,and looking in that browse box doesnt ring any bells or am I missing the obvious

as far as I know they don't do backup software
and I'm having a spot of bovver understanding what you mean

incremental backups are about as basic as it gets

Sorry AC ime not very good at explaing pc problems ,I have Adobe 5 and you can archive your photos on to a disc or hard drive with this prog ,and to save time in the future you select incremental backup which only copies files you have added or modified since the last backup, it will be abit awkward to see what I mean unless you have Adobe 5 in front of you ,
I think I will get that Synctoy ,I didnt know these things existed and,I suppose incremental backups are very basic but the only way ive managed to battle my way through pc problems and the internet are with the help of people like you and others , so please keep it up ,

it sounds as if it's one of the old style backups where instead of backing up files - you create a job lot (volume) - the problem there is any data loss - and the lot goes

I've used some quite complex backup software in my time ... and had varying degrees of success

I find the new(ish) huge storage devices make all that a bit redundant - space isn't a problem - so you nedden't split volumes to fit on floppys - or CDs
I've recently started using microsoft's SyncToy v2.0
which is free, simple to setup and use - it will do all the basic things - incremental backup being one of them and it does them well

after the initial pain of backing it all up - it will syncronise folders - and only copies what's changed - or if it's not sure - it asks

I'd give it a go - be certain it's what you want - then ditch the adobe backups (actually - don't - keep them just in case ;)
