somehow I suspect your using wireless.

if you are, try logging into the admin for your wireless router and setting it to use a fixed channel instead of automatic, try a low one and a high one, see if that helps at all.

not using wireless. I have a low signal from telephone exchange. My cordless phone always crackles. to the extents that at times it is almost impossible to hear what anyone is saying. Have been advised to change phone. but what to know which to buy

id get better ADSL filters first.

Ideally make sure your router is plugged into the master socket with a decent replacement NTE5 faceplate/filter.

if not replace the ADSL filter with a decent one, ADSLnation ones are about the best IMO
