I'd recommend an external CD-RW although I'm sure you can buy an internal CD-RW from Apple. I'd speak to the people at http://www.macwarehouse.co.uk to see if they have anything suitable.
I got a Lacie external firewire CDRW for my old G3 and it works a treat on Macs and PCs. What about something like this? http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=7182
