Program Maanger (not responding)

My computer regularly freezes. When I press ctrl-alt-del the Program Manager says (not responding). Does anyone have any idea why this keeps on happening?

Help!! My CD vanished!

You most likely have a virus, trojan or malware/adware running in the background. Do you have a firewall ? Do you have any anti-virus software ? Is there anything in particular you are running/doing when it freezes ?

Depends, sometimes the internet. i have virus protection, but have only recently installed it. there were several viruses on my computer which i removed. i also have a problem where my internet explorer always reverts to a particular site as the home page, no matter what i do. i have changed the home page but it always reverts back to the same one. it seems to be a website that is trying to sell you spyware.

i also have the following problems:

p2p manager (not responding)

points manager (not responding)

They are probably all related to the same problem, any ideas?

Ok - good details in your reply.

A suggestion to start with is to run an online virus scan as I don't believe your PC is clean.
