Can anyone tell me if there is a free online e-mail address directory.? I am in need of a friend's e-mail address, I can't phone or write to them, so need their e-mail address.

no.

It wouldn't be possible... there is nothing to force anybody to give their correct details when signing up for an email address.

Just a suggestion, check to see if it is included in any mails sent by other friends in carbon copy of a group mailing. I recovered a lot that way when I lost some.
