Can I delete the following ????

I do a bit of buying/selling/watching on the computer. What are the following for, and can I safely delete them ? I;ll use No. 1,2,3 for easy answers (1) Python 2.2.3 (2) Java (TM) 6 update 5 (3) Java (TM)6 update 7 (4) Java (TM) SE runtime environment 6 update 1 (5) J2 SE runtime evironment 5.0 (6)Housecall 6.6 (7) Agere systems pci soft modem (8) ATI control panel and ATI display driver.....I hope the odd experts reading this.... 2 & 3) delete all but the latest (highest number) java updates
4) no
5) no
6) no idea
7) no
8) no

it's a little strange that you have Python installed, but I would assume that if it's there something is using it!

OK, so what does python actually DO ? I,m afraid I don't know much about computers...I was having a lot of trouble with my HP printer,kept pulling in several papers at a time, and when it DID take a single sheet, printed in a little bit of english and the rest looked like Polish....I took all the HP off the computer, put the disc in and re entered it...The printer then worked fine, but the computer kept chugging away for AGES before I could do anything then it froze, every time.. Today I just managed to take HP off again and it seems to be working ok at the moment,(fingers X't
