I am writing an assignment at the moment and am encountering the following problem: I am giving an example in this paragraph: When typing I com

Go to Tools and 'fix broken text' highlight the paragraphs to be worked on.

word, notepad .... a pencil
in what - windows 98, xp, vista?
also which version of whatever ... and which font

fixing it isn't the issue as I see it ... it's preventing it in the first place

.... and while you are at it ... if you backspace the break ... does that fix that particular line?

a dos window does it but I can't get any other app to split words unless they hyphenate

Johanna - are you by any chance hitting the carriage return at the end of the line ? I find it helps to actually show carriage returns, tabs etc in Word, so that I can see where they are. Word should automatically *wrap* around within the margin limits, you shouldn't need to hit any tab keys whatsoever.

The carriage return key is on the *Standard* Toolbar (to see this one, go to View, Toolbars and Click against Standard), 4th button from the right, left of the 100% button and click on it, to *show* it.

I'm using office home and student (word) 2007. I've just got it as my Windows XP was hit by a virus. I'm finding it difficult to get used to. I cannot see any "tools" tab on here at all! Thank you again.
