Lap-top problem

Hi guys,my son as a asus lap-top but as lost the sound on it also the pop-ups wont let him view certain progs and things ,any ideas before I have to take it to the repairers.

It sounds as though he may have virus or malware. tell him to scan with his anti virus and anti spyware.
If he hasn`t got, any download these and do full scans. This is if he can get into computer enough to perform these actions.
