if you are getting popups which advertise that you have a virus, but its not from your currently installed anti-virus then it is most likely scareware.

scareware is basically something which says you have an infection but really you dont. it just wants you to buy their stuff for nothing really.

which anti-virus have you been running?

and what is the name of the popup which appears?

I am running avast and there is no pop ups a such, when I access the internet through Aol, whatever internet page i am on, Internet explorer opens up along side automatically.
Does avast tell you what it has done with the trojans, are they in the virus vault?
It sounds as though you may have some spyware in your computer as well.
Try doing a full scan with malwarebytes, it may help and certainly won`t do any harm.
I don`t use avast as I have avg so not sure if avast notifies you if it has healed infections, or put them in the vault.

Thanks Trish, I ran maleware bites and it seems to have cleared it. avg and avast wasn't clearing trojans.
You haven`t got avg and avast both installed, have you?
You should only ever have one antivirus, this could be causing you problems.
