If the water has drained through to the motherboard you may have problems.
I would first STOP using it (electricity and water dont mix!)
I would remove as much of the laptop as you can (battery, CD drive, anything else) to let the air in.
Maybe dab it with a tissue to remove residual water.
As has been said, maybe gently blow warm air into it with a hair drier.
Leave it opened up, but upside down, overnight to let the water drain out, and dont use it again till the morning.

I've took all the advce and turned it upside down for her and used the hair dryer she says it seems to be working alright, fingers crossed. For once it isn't me that needed the computer advice t was my clumsy 13 yr old sis lol x
As a general rule (I say this to all of us).....
DONT drink or eat messy food near a laptop.
I speak from bitter experience.
About 5 years ago I had a work laptop I was using at home.
I was sitting at the laptop, eating a bowl of corn flakes with of course milk on them.
Reached out to press a key on the keyboard and knocked the bowl upside down right on top of the laptop.
Left it to dry out, but keys went all sticky, and it never worked properly again, and in the end my company had to replace it.
