Is it all a con? I've just splashed out for Sky+ with HD. I'm sure the Sky+ will be worth the �49 to record more easily and pause and things, but honestly I can't see a vast improvement in HD over ordinary (which is a good picture anyway)

sorry this wont be much help but your either doing something wrong or there is something wrong, because anyone that cant see the difference either has bad vision or really bad vision.
something to check to make sure things are working as they should be, when sky set it up did they give you a HDMI to connect the box to the tv, (looks a little like a usb), im guessing they did as you would have no signal at all, but check just in case.
If you have spent a decent amount on your equipment dont skimp on the cables either, i've had sky hd for over a year now and still i sometimes find myself shaking my head at how good the picture looks, but i did change the cable that sky provided.

I cannot speak too highly about Sky HD,if you can't see the difference between standard & HD there is something wrong.If you have only Scart connections that is your problem,Scart is ok for standard tv but you need HDMi cable to carry HD signal.

whiskeryron thanks for your comments. I am well aware that it is my problem. It was fitted yesterday by the Sky engineer, and of course he fitted an HDMI cable. I have a 2 year old Samsung 32" LCD TV. Gold plated scart cables and a new Sky+ box, as I say fitted yesterday by the Sky engineer, who at the same time fitted a new dish.
Thanks Frankcastle for your suggestion, maybe I will have to buy a better quality HDMI cable and contrary to your suggestion I don't have bad or very bad vision. It was an honest question looking for help, not sarcasm.

Do not waste your money on a "better" HDMI cable, it will not improve the picture at all!
HDMI is a digital link, unlike scart which is analogue, with digital signals as long as there is a signal that's as good as it's going to get! these people that spend a small fortune on top end HDMI cables are fools and wasting their money!
