How big is the file? You should be aiming for no more than 10 minutes and a lot less than 1 Gb in size.

The larger the file the longer it will take to upload.
Maybe you need to play around with the file in windows movie maker (its on your pc) and save various different sizes of the movie, see how these play, and choose which one to upload. I suspaect that as squarebear says the movie made by your camera is a huge file size.
When you save it as different file sizes in WMM, the first aspect to really suffer is sound quality, so you have to weigh up the optimum size that has good enough sound.

I've got Windows Media Player somewhere, is that what I need? And how do I find it/Windows Movie Maker? I'm not technical at all !! I have no idea how big the file is, but it only takes a minute to play it back.
You need to right click on the file and choose properties to see the size.
Make sure it's not an AVI file as they are HUGE!
I upload using Quick time Player....dowload free here:

Open YouTube. Top right is 'sign in' where you register. There's a yellow strip upload top right to pull up your video.

Tiny in length maybe but not size. You need to right click on the file and tell us how large it is.
