Is it possible for searches to be added to your google search list, when they have not been searched for by you? Or in order for them to be in the drop down on the google menu must someone have searched for them on your computer? thanks

What I meant to say was that the text that you type into the Google search field is stored on your PC (in the registry I think). If you are using the Google Toolbar the previous 30 searches you have typed in will appear in your drop down list irrespective of your autocomplete settings.

If you use google for searching the web, the text you have entered into the search bar is stored on your computer, and your computer only. It's stored in the temporary internet folder, the same as cookies, etc.
However, I've heard some rumours about Spyware being attatched somehow to search bars, in browsers, and the ability for the site to monitor the things you search for. You can delete the list that shows in the drop down menu by deleting all temporary internet files and history, in your browser. Tools > Options.
