I'm getting it installed this weekend; one of the main reasons being that I can record/pause etc. However, I do need subtitles on progs - can anyone tell me if I record a prog with the subtitles on it - will they show up when I eventually watch it? thanks in advance.

Hi Meg, you can set the box to have subtitles whenever you like, so even if you have recorded a programme and the subtitle setting was off, if you put the subtitles setting on before you watch the programme then the subtitles will appear.

I know this because I was watching an episode of Hollyoaks which I'd recorded and couldn't hear what someone said, so put the subtitles on and all was clear!

Thanks becky, I should have checked this out before agreeing to subscribe for a year, but ne'r mind - you have put my mind at rest!
Hi Meg:

Not trying to have you "suck eggs" but, just in case you don't know, the subtitles are accessible via the "sevices" button on your handset.
Another quicker way to get the subtitles up is to press the "help" button on your remote control, then press the right arrow to turn on the subtitles. I've got some programmes taped from before Christmas, and the subs still come up on those, it's amazing!
Well you are getting it now, so too late, but you could have got all that with a freeview digi.

On mine, they are there anyway - ie, record without, watch with.
