hi AC, thanks for replying,

sorry, im a bit thick when it comes to computers, whats windows 7, you said i will be able to upgrade to it etc... ?!

sorry! lol

:o}
Because Vista has had such bad publicity Microsoft are replacing it quicker than they may have done.

This is with a new version called Windows 7.

It comes out in October, but some companies are offering a deal that if you buy their laptops now you can have a free upgrade to Windows 7 (they send you the CD and you do it yourself).

As you dont sound very technical I would just ignore it for now and just use Vista, it is not as bad as everyone makes out.
The laptop you listed above is at the very low end of the technical specifications.

It has a very slow CPU, and only 1Gb of memory.

It will be fine for what you want to do, if maybe a little sluggish.

If you could afford another 30 to 50 you could do a lot better.

But if that is all that you have then go for it.

I went in my local Staples today and I think they had that laptop, but they had quite a few better ones at 300 or so if you can stretch to that.

Laptops do seem to be dropping in price (it was hard to get one under 300 a while ago) but now you can get a few between 250 and 300.

I dont usually like suggesting Advent, but this is a much better laptop for the money

thank you vhg, your comments are hugely appreciated.
im having second thoughts now having read what youve said, so i think i will shop around....
the advent one you showed me is a refurbished one, would you recommend refurbished..?
thanks alot vhg
It will be plenty powerful for what you want. My ancient laptop copes very well with all those things and it has a much lower spec.

thank you AC VHG and HC for replying.

I'd stick with the

As vhg says - it's not

this is same price but more memory

where did the rest go? - should read
I'd stick with the asus - the free memory upgrade is worth having - vista like memory

As vhg says - it's not a particularly fast machine - but (just my opinion) I like the quality.

it will do the job ...
