I am looking to buy a camcorder which will do the above, some of the ones I have looked at offer a night shot mode, but I understand that this will still not be good enough for filming at a distance. I am now looking at the Canon FS200 together with a self contained infra red light to help boost the distance. Does anyone have experience of the Canon FS200 and the capabilities of its Night Shot mode. This is going to be mainly for my teenage daughter to use for her Uni studies, so really don't want to spend mega money, but want to make sure that I get the equipment that will be able to cope with want she needs it for. Thanks for any input.

there is a very simple rule here..

Good night vision = expensive.

thanks Chuck, I realise that to obviously get the best quality night vision I would have to spend loads, but thought there might be an entry level model which is reasonable. I could only find about cameras on the link you posted and not camcorders, she already has a decent camera, so don't need to go down that route for a while hopefully
