My new laptop arrived today, it's a Lenovo. However, when turning it on the touch pad doesn't seem to be working. Has anyone got any ideas why this could be? Thanks in advance
model number would help, but have a look at all the function keys across the top and see if any have a little pic of a touch pad on it, if so hold down the fn key and press it and see what happens.
You dont say which model but I have a T60 and pressing "fn"+"F8" gives option to enable/disable TouchPad. You may also find the same settings on the mouse properties (UltraNav tab) from control panel (xp)
It's a Lenovo 3000 N500.
I just tried fn +f8 and nothing, I also tried looking in the control panel but I didn't get far as I can't scroll down or anything!
It has windows vista on it.
To get pass the set up stage I just had to use alt and whatever letter to get to the next stage, I couldn't actually chose any of the options I wanted. Very frustrating seeing as it's brand new! Grrr.
If it is brand new, why waste your time trying to fix it, bring or send it back, demand a new one straight away. I had this problem with a Dell one last year, rang them and they sent someone to collect it, I decided not to take a new one and they sent my money back to me. After all, if one thing doesn`t work, there may be other problems as well.
