Hi

Can anyone tell me how mobile phones work abroad
ie do both parties incur charges? and does it apply to texts or calls or both,?
does it make any difference if you have the same network or different ones ?
I will be staying on the UK the other person is going to Greece.

Thanks in advance

usually, the person who takes the UK mobile elsewhere has to pay more for incoming text/call and pay more for outgoing. Person in UK on UK mobile is unaffected. However, roaming charges are being done away with, some companies have got rid of them already, so it may not be a problem. Check with your network.
