"DirectX9 not found" message

I try to run RollerCoaster ****** 3 that uses DirectX9 and it tells me "DirectX not found." yet when i go to reinstall it, it tells me it's already there and I have tried uninstalling the game then reinstalling it but I still get the same message, any ideas what the problem is?

DirectX 9 may not have installed correctly. You can't reinstall it because XP tells the installtion that it's already there - yet it's just not functioning properly. Try to rollback DirectX to DirectX 8.1 and then reinstall DirectX 9 again. Search for DirectX Eradicator or some other such tool. It's not a perfect solution but it is a solution.
