itunes/audio books

hi there, I did get some info on here about this previously but things are not going to plan! My sister bought my mum an ipod shuffle so that she could listen to audio books but it has landed on me to help mum get the stories. I have just downloaded a book from itunes and it shows under the file \'audiobooks\'. I am trying to download this onto my ipod now just so I know it all works before doing for mum. In the autofill section audiobooks does not come up so I have gone to the \'purchased\' section. Deselected all but the audiobook and tried to autofill. It comes up \'itunes cannot add any songs to ipod because no songs on the playlist \'purchased\' can be copied to this ipod. I know it is not a song but I just dont know what to do next. Can anyone help?

You shouldn't add from your Store / purchased section. Add from your Library section (music, movies etc.). If audiobooks isn't showing here, go into the iTune menu at the top, clicke preferences, General. You should then see all the media types you have selected to show. Click Audiobooks so that it is ticked, close preferences. You should now see Audiobooks under the library section on the main iTunes screen. You can now add them from here to a new playlist like you would any tune, then sync to your Mum's ipod.

thanks for your response Milvus. Audio books is showing under the library section. I have been trying to do this using my ipod. When I go to my ipod under devices then I go to 'autofill from' audio books does not come up there?? When I go into general under preferences it is ticked - anything else I should be trying? Sorry am not overly technically minded but always found itunes straightforward for myself - til now!

after i responded I had an idea and dragged the book down to playlists - then it was showing in 'autofill from'. It was still coming up 'no tunes to copy'. I then dragged it up to my device and now when I click on my ipod the book is showing but nothing coming through my ipod - light just flashes. Any other suggestions? I very much appreciate your help.

yahoo - it works!! I had it on shuffle there! thanks for you help though once I realised I had to get it to playlist it has worked.
