Loss of \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'Compose\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' facility

On My Email selections eg mail, inbox, draft, etc I no longer have Compose. Think the grandchildren using the computer might have done something but have no idea why it went. All I can do is type the word compose into the search box with the magnifying glass at the bottom of the page. This tells me there is no result to the search, but Compose does then feature in one of the choice boxes at the top in its normal place. How can I get it back permanently please?
