Wearing the wrong thing?
I think that i'm having an identity crisis! I'm 24 and work in a professional job. I work in a smart/casual office and we're allowed to wear jeans etc.
I have quite bright red hair, piercings and tattoos but when I'm in work I feel too casual. I wish that I could dress smartly but still funky but I'm a rubbish shopper. I heard someone mentioning personal shopping the other day...is this free? Do you think that you need to spend a lot of money to qualify?
I tend to take risks and buy Primark clothing because it's so cheap I can try things out, but always end up reaching for the same things in my wardrobe!
Help!

I think John Lewis do it, and Debenhams.. but it's a bit pot luck if they're any good at what they're supposed to do! I went with a friend once and bought nothing (because the woman was useless) but my friend bought some things.
Primark is cheap, but it often looks it. you're not going to get quality stuff there but it's a cheap "now" look. I reckon you should buy a few tailored (off the peg) items.. a quality skirt, dress, trousers/suit and you can go to Primark for things like tops and accessories, or "in" shoes.

You should steer well clear of the 'power dressing' two-piece business suits, but that is no reason why you can't walk the line between being smart and still showing your own individuality.
Accessorising is a wonderful way to make your mark - a funky broach or scarf will take the edge of the 'formality' of your smart outfits. Try and go for bright colours that show off your hair, you can wear blouses and skirts, or trousers and still look cool - just make sure you wander a little off the beaten track with your fabrics and colours.

Like has been said already, stick to a few key pieces like trousers/skirt etc then you can add to it with a new shirt/blouse etc.
Personally I LIVE in Primark and work in a solicitors in London! They have NEVER said anything about the way I dress. I have piercings and tattoos also and have a dress down Friday. I'm always quite careful not to let the tattoos out though as that might be a bit too much for my office to handle!
I wouldn't worry about your work saying anything about your dress now, you have the job so it's too late to comlain really!
