downloading movies etc

If I down load movies from the internet what do I need on my pc to enable me to:

i) burn them onto a DVD
ii) copy them onto a memory card of some sort so I can watch them on my via a laptop.
iii) how do i know if my pc is capable of this sort of this. I bout this pc from Dell about 3 years ago.

Is there any idots guides or information availalbe - I mean really easy to understand stuff. I would say something a kid would understand but kids know more than adults when it comes to tvs, dvd, computers etc.

a good dvd burning software i use nero6 reloaded,the film will need encoding(digitizing)then burnt onto dvd,nero does this in a easy straightfoward way
j.........just plug yor memory card 2 GIG or more but no less ,into usb,u will hear a 2 tone noise from pc.........pc should open the card as a seperate drive ie drive G,drag film onto memory card window which will eitha copy or move which is yor choice,then plug into laptop

yor pc will be fine mines 6 years old and stil running A1
