Why do I get this message so often, and when I go into Task Manager it says CPU usage is at 100%.  I shut everything down and then it`s ok for a while before it happens again.

Lots of similar questions on AB but no real answers so far.

I`ve tried running Norton AntiVirus but it shuts itself off after barely a minute!

What does it all mean?      Can anybody help?       I know I`m not alone!!!!!

It could be any number of things.  What is the process that is taking up most of the % CPU?
Are you sure it isn't the System idle process using all the CPU?

I didn't click submit at all then?  Anyway, if it is the system idle process using the cpu then this is normal.
I had a similar problem where my CPU usage would shoot up to 100% and stay there until I rebooted. I can't remember which process was taking all the juice, but I found a program called Process Explorer which indicated that it may have been due to a USB device. I unplugged my MS Sidewinder Forcefeedback joystick from out of the top of a 7 port Belkin USB2 hub and everything has been normal since. I plugged the joystick directly into the PC and it's been no trouble. Any use to you? Probably not!
