DIVX on USB stick??

I have downloaded a movie in, what i think, is DIVX form it says DivX.avi. I have a Divx LG DVD player but when I put the stick in to play the movie, i cant. I Have looked through all previous questions but cannot find out exactly what im doing wrong. Can anyone enlighten me please?? The idea is that i can download a movie, put it on the stick, watch it via the dvd then erase and start over again that way, i have no need for dvd discs. I need a reply in basic laymans terms as i am not very clever with this sort of thing! Many thanks in advance.

Theft is rightly taken a dim view of..............and yes, most posters who admit to it or come on the site requesting 'help to steal' can expect a robust response from other ABers.
