sd card reader ...when to take card out?

Just bought an sd card reader ....is it ok to insert the sd card into it when the computer is on and likewise to pull it out when the computer is on....should I only do this before switching on and off the computer....will it damage the card in any way ?

As long as you don't take the card out when data is being written you can do it any time. Personally, I prefer pluging them in while the PC is on because then you can get XP to do something automatically like load up your picture software or whatever - but then I'm lazy!
