Hi. How can I oranise firefox to open my home page in a new tab as I can when I use IE.

Do you use a homepage button on the navigation toolbar to open your homepage? (I have configured mine so much that I can't remember if this is the default)

If so then hold down the Ctrl key when you click on the button opens the homepage in a new tab.

An alternative is to have all new tabs display your homepage but since that isn't quite the same I won't give details unless you want them.

Thanks both of you , I have set firefox so that it opens my homepage when I start up but it is the new tabs that I wanted to set as home page as well and I cannot find the way to do this. Bibblebub do you know the way to do this?

If you load the addon I suggested above, you'll get the behaviour you describe.

There are several add-ons to do this but one of the most comprehensive is Tab Mix Plus https://addons.mozill...US/firefox/addon/1122 which provides about as much control over tab behaviour as is possible.
