cant use system restore

before loading service pack3 I created a system restore point. After the download I couldn't access the internet unless I turned off Zone alarm firewall. Not a good idea..anyway when i tried to use system restore it says that it is unable to restore and to choose another restore point which i did to no avail.I'm sure system restore is enabled and there is lots of memory available...come to think of it..I don't think system restore has ever worked on my computer..Any help welcomed....thank you in advance

Have you tried removing and reinstalling zone alarm?

System restore is heavily over used to try and fix problems when it's often like using a sledge hammer to crack a nut.
