Is there any way of burning music tracks in MP3 format when the OS driving Windows media player is Windows 7 which burns in WMA format by default - which means they won' t play on two of my CD players?

I think it burns them in the format in which they were ripped. Try changing the Rip setting s to MP3.

I don't think that will work I am making (or trying to) from the media library. Some 4000 tracks have been ripped to library over several years with version 9, 10 & 11 of Windows media player and I have made CD's under Windows 2000, XP and vista with no problems. I can't back date to earlier versions os media playerr. With XP and vista
the tracks were in the library in WMA format when burning a playlist the message against each track was "converting" then burning - the end result MP3. It would seem that the converting option has disappeared.
down load the free version of switch sound
file converter. Load your wma files and convert them to mp3.
I have just done it to my music files
so that I could input them onto my mobile phone.

Many thanks for that. I was beginning to think that new CD players was the answer. I kmow the new digital radio/ CD players are much better the old analogue are still capable of playing them in the MP3 format. I think I have a Roberts Radio on my Birthday list (son & daughter). Thanks again
A FREE program called "Format Factory" is available from

It's very good for converting both audio and video files to quite a large range of alternatives.
