MP3 Player Album/Track Titles
5 Answers
I have ripped a CD on to my laptop to load on to my MP3 player.
After ripping the album title was shown as "unknown album" and the track titles as "Track 1, 2" etc. I changed the titles and track names on mt laptop.
When copied to the MP3 player the title and track names revert to "Unknown", "Track 1" and so on.
It seems any name change is ineffective. Any ideas?

When you rip a CD, you (usually) get the option to provide names for the album and the individual tracks if the album isn't recognised in one of the online databases (e.g. Gracenote), so it might be as simple as ripping it again and providing this information.
Alternatively, depending on which version of Windows you use, you might be able to right click on the individual tracks, click Properties and then change the names that way...

the mp3 player takes the information from tags embedded in the file, not the file names.
The easiest way is to rip the album again and enter the details in whatever software you use to rip and it will then embed the correct information into the file.
If that's not possible then the software you use for playing MP3s on your computer should let you edit the tags manually, right click on the file when it's playing and look for something like edit id3 tag or file information.
