Unfortunately my cmpact flash card has become corrupt - happened at the same time one of the pins on the card reader got bent 90 dgress :o(
The pictures can been viewed on the LCD display of the camera but cannnot access them on computer either through card reader or USB lead.

Are they lost or can they be recovered?

My bet would be that you cannot transfer them to your PC because you have f*cked your card reader, and for some reason your camera is not communicating with your PC (I had this problem with my old Samsung camera).

Try using another card reader, or another PC with the camera and see what happens – but if the camera can access the photos they will be recoverable.
