uninstall internet explorer
How do I uninstall internet explorer 8. I've followed all suggestions and it seems to be that you have to uninstall service pack 3 first but even that won't uninstall. Any help welcome.

I think it's conflicting with Firefox (which I prefer) but as I say SP3 doesn't want to delete either.I ran Search, all files and folders, service pack 3 but when I highlight a batch of files it won't delete them.Rather than run a search again where does SP3 hide on the computer? It's not in my downloads folder

Service pack 3 can be removed from add/remove programs. You need to check the box at the top: "Show Updates", and you'll find it listed as Windows XP Service Pack 3.
But, having said that, the only possible conflict I can imagine between Firefox and IE8 is that IE8 thinks it's the default browser - I have both (as do most other Firefox users, I imagine) without conflicts.
You can make FF the default as follows:
Run FF
Click Tools/Options
On the General tab, check the box "Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup"
Click Check Now

Agree with him in the gallows ^
IE and firefox will not conflict with each other. you can only ever have one default browser though so if you are trying to use firefox and IE is set as the default browser (or worse, you have no default browser set) it can cause problems.
Please don't ever do things like search for files called anything and then just delete those to try and remove things, you will cause major problems doing things like that.
