Is it bad to delete the items from a Temp folder?

Our computer has a 60 gig C hard drive with 20 gig D back up drive and although I don't use the D drive the C drive only has 23 gig spare space. I did a search for files and noticed a folder called Temp which has over 2400 files and is 2 gig in size. I am assuming that Temp means temporary but I may be wrong. I was just wondering would there be any negative affects on my PC if I just deleted all 2400+ files in the Temp folder to free up the 2 gig memory its using up?

Some files in the Temp folder are called TMP file, MHTML Document, DMP file, Text Document, JPEG and others. Will it matter if I delete the lot or will it affect the running of the PC?

you should be able to remove all items from the temp folder without any problems.

It should be fine to empty both directories. But to be on the safe side there are applications that will make this type of decision for you. Check out CCleaner. It's a well known and praised one.

23 GB is hardly an only that's a decent amount of space, no need to be too worried about space just yet.

I find that its slower than it used to be and I assumed its because the hard drive was too full. I'm a bit apprehensive actually in case I mess up the computer.

Check for spyware. Trust you have AV running ?

Aside from that PCs running slower than they used to, is a common cry. I'm advised one should reinstall the operating system from scratch every now and again, not that I can ever be bothered.

Thanks for answers, I got that cc cleaner and it cleared up 2 gig.
