New Phone advice

Hi everyone.
It's time for me to get a new contract and i fancy an iphone type model. Are there any other phones that do a similar job but are cheaper? And are applications limited to apple?
Looking to spend around 25-30p/m and use internet to access emails and other web based applications you can get. Not too bothered about camera quality or music though.

The best non-iPhone phone at the moment is the Nexus 1. It runs Android 2.2 (operating system) and works similar to the iPhones. The tarrifs and phone are a lot cheaper and the Android app store is growing very fast.

samsung galaxy s. my friend works for vodafone and they out-sell the i-phone 4. there are certain apps that are only on i-phone. but there are literally thousands of free apps on android too. the galaxy s is the most powerful phone on the market right now, thats what i've got and i love it dearly!
