MP3 Download

As you all may well know...smile...I'm a techno duffer, so how much space or KB (?) is an MP3? I guess it all depends on what is being contained or downloaded, but in this case, it's a 30 minute radio episode...or even a four episode download, if that is correct Buenchico?...you know the one I mean! And is it easy to download summat, say from amazon. I have, at the moment, a 2gb SD card, so would this be enough to copy the download from my pc, once I've done the necessary? Ta Muchly.

IT really depends on the quality it is encoded in, the higher quality the larger it will be.

For 30 min encoded at 128Kbs (possibly the most common quality) it would be about 25MB, if it's encoded at a slightly higher quality (196Kbs) it would be about 35MB.

It's easily going to fit on a 2GB card, that card could hold about 2100 minutes of MP3 at 128Kbs

Is it easy to download summit?

Well it should be, but web sites do vary in how they do it so we cant give exact details of what windows they will show. My guess is that Amazon should have made it quite easy.

You may well get a "Save" option or something similar so when you get asked this say "yes" or OK.

The thing you are most likely to get confused about is what they will call it (the file) and where they will put it (the folder).

Depending on what you download it could go into a number of folders (pictures, music etc). Before you start the download see if it says anywhere where they plan to put it and what they plan to call it.

If you dont know what it is called it can be hard to find it afterwards.

Note depending on your broadband speed it may take a time to download, so be patient.

Once you have downloaded it, and know what it is called and where it is, then copying to a memory stick is not that difficult (although if you have never done it before it may take a bit of practice).
