webcam software

evening all,

my dad has a logitech pro4000 webcam, but cannot find the cd to install the software onto his laptop,
can what he needs be found on the internet (free) do you know please?
weve tried looking, but neither of us are too sure what we are looking for...?

can anyone help please?

albags, ive done it! whuuuu hooooo! get the flags out!!

well i had a little mooch about online after youd so patiently tried to help me.
and beings i now knew i needed 10.5 software, i did a search, and yes, i found the what i wanted on the logitech site.

so, i worked my way through the instructions and prompts etc,not thinking for one minute id be successful, but low and behold, would you adam and eve it, i managed to do it!
i even got to complete the 'run' thing that we were looking for earlier on!! lol

and yes, everything seems hunky dory and working fine. so all i need to do now is to help my dad get set up tomorrow (later on even)

right, im off to sleep now! - i think i will be dreaming of bl00dy webcams tonight! lol.

ooh before i go though, can i ask you just one more thing please?
why is it when the camera is plugged into one of the usb ports, it doesnt show as having anything plugged in when i look in 'my computer' - it should do, shouldnt it? yes? no?

Pleased you sorted that one out. It can be a serious problem if your PC does not run an executable properly. Anyway ..
The ruddy kebab didn't turn up! Grrrrrr

An imaging device won't show in MC. A camera with removeable card, or standard digi camera will.
It will show in Task manager when connected and on.

hi albags .. oh yes, i was at it till 4am lol .... when ive a task in hand, i like to see it through till the end and get a nice satisfying result ;o)

yes for me, because id already got his webcam on my computer

but no for me dad!
although hes sucessfully got the software on now, he needs to install 'drivers' or something(?) to actually get the webcam working because its not being recognised..

this is the link we used for the software, where there is mention of 'drivers' on the front page.
if you wouldnt mind taking a quick look if youve got a wee second please, and tell me if its what we will need to get the camera up and running for him, and which of the downloads he needs to click on.? ta :o)
