problems recovering laptop

I have a sony vaio VPCEB1E0E and am trying to recover my computer using the discs as I can't start windows. I only get as far as putting the disc in and it gets stuck on a dark blue screen with the mouse showing. I've also tried the F10 option and after a few moments a dialog box appears saying that vaio recovery tools are being launched and it just sits there doing nothing, any help or advice would be appreciated.
