what does 'best answer' do?

I thought if you got 1000 best answers you received a gift from AB. Am I wrong?

The best answer quotient is calculated for each person (number of best answers divided by total answers). The person with the highest quotient has their name put in a sealed unstamped envelope which is sent to father christmas at the north pole so that he/she will get a lovely present.
