Good Day everyone, hope we're well.

I wonder if we can discuss and agree the best way to deal with spammers?

The Editors do their best to get to reports as soon as they come in. Those which have come through today have been picked off asap.

I would suggest though that those who spot spammers avoid posting on their threads. By posting on their threads - even to say "reported" pushes the post back into the "latest posts" box which encourages others to look and comment.

While this is of little benefit to the spammers (they'll be gone shortly after anyway) it is a bit like forcing ad breaks into everyone else's AnswerBank viewing.

The following is mostly directed at the CB crowd:

There also seems to be a habit of some users of trying to "shout down" anyone who reports - something along the lines of "no one likes a grass".

This is nonsense. We provide functions to keep the site free of trolls and banned users. Use them.

The only time "no one likes a grass" has weight is in prison. If you are currently serving time in jail, I can only suggest a visit here: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Law/ to see where you went wrong.

I noticed a rash of bullying bubbled up last night. If you've found your account suspended, and you were involved, please don't contact us about it - it is permanent.

I hope you have a good weekend.

I have no qualms reporting spam, abuse or inappropriate posts. the term "no one likes a grass" is something that bullies like to enforce to ensure they can carry on doing their thing.

Sounds about right Cazzz.

Bullies are trolls for the most part, don't feed them.

You B00? You must have slipped the net...

Well I missed last night's jollies but I never tell trolls when I have reported them. It just feeds them so I just ignore.
mmmmmmmmmmm

I love the smell of vindication in the afternoon...........:o)
oh errr, ahhh- i wasn't here, didn't do nuffin, honest!

(actually, to save you checking, i really didn't do anything!!)

...ah that explains the mystery of my missing "stonehenge" post script !
(I wondered if anyone got it)
I think recently we have been better at ignoring some ranting threads (the more vile ones)
Luckily I seem to miss the nasty stuff going on in AB but if I do see something nasty I just report it without saying anything. What would be the point in doing that. the only trouble I find is which category to report under. One time I spent ages trying to figure out which button to click into and it was none of the above!
And I'm being blamed ,again, in certain quarters.............

I take it the laws against smoking don't apply in chatrooms otherwise B00 is in trouble. She is certainly giving a poor example to younger ABers. The blue hair is bad enough. I'm not saying she should be banned, but a spell in the dungeon wouldn't go amiss.
Yes Jack, im blaming you.

Not quite sure what for, but im blaming you anyway.
Have a look in the Scout hut, vibes.............
And im also now blaming jno!
I take it the certain quarters are offsite, jack? TT is now reduced to jelly here, which should impress his friends abroad.
What's the "scout hut" Jack ?
