How do i double the magnification of say for example..

On what? On a mac laptop you just do the stretch thing on the mouse pad.

Google maps should have a scale with pluses and minuses on the left... for text, try spinning the wheel on your mouse while holding the Control key down

or at the bottom right of your screen, there is a 100% symbol, click that to make the image bigger on the screen.

On vista there is a page button top right. If you click on it, you can click and magnify up to 400%

on most things hold down control and move the mouse wheel, try it on this page now.

One method is to Save it as a picture and then insert the picture into an email. You can then adjust it to any size you want.
At the top of this page if you click on VIEW you can Zoom in or out to change the size of the print. You can do this in many other applications . As jne says its available in Google maps.

am i short-sighted or what? i cant see the word view anywhere on my screen, i have a laptop with a touchpad mouse. so it still seems impossible to magnify anything

its sorted calibax, my own fault for having everything in spanish, luckily i used google translate, and found what i wanted. only one more problem, i magnified a map on googlemaps, but i didnt print the size i magnified it to. is there something i can do to solve this?

You could copy it to Word & stretch the map or hilite the text for a larger font.
