A friend on facebook seems to have been removed. Not only is he not my 'friend' anymore, I can't get his profile up at all, he doesn't seem to exist ! What could have happened? If he had been reported, could Facebook have banned him ?

He could have 'unfriended' you and set his privacy levels so only 'friends' can find him.
Or he has deactivated his account.
Or he has been banned
