Note they often have touch screens. And often wireless keyboard and mouse.
While they take up little space, you should be aware that because it is all in one "box" if anything goes wrong you cant just replace that part. So for example if the monitor fails the whole thing fails.
If you buy a "standard" desktop which is made up of standard components then it is easy to replace a broken part like a CD/DVD drive or monitor and so on.
Before you part with your £600 have a look on various web sites like PC World and so on to see what you can get for your money with an all in one.
Because it is a computer inside you still ned to think about the CPU, memory, hard disk etc and how good they are.

Thanks VHG, I'm not very (well not at all) knowledgeable about the workings of a computer. The one I've been offered is a touch screen and it does look very smart. it's this one.......

I agree with VHG regarding the problems all in ones have where if one thing goes wrong the whole system has had it, but then again that's the same for laptops.
In fact what those all in ones are to a large degree is a laptop in a slightly different form.
Anyhow, if the one you've been offered is exactly the same spec as the one in your link then it is a nice spec machine and will easily do anything most people are likely to want of it.
Don't get too hung up on the touch screen though, in practice touch screens are not practical to use on something like that, they only really usable on hand-held devices. (waving your hands and arms about in front of you to operate a computer looks very nice in films like minority report but doesn't work in real life)

Wolf, you can get all the essential working parts of a computer in something the size of a mobile phone charger these days (and I want one even though I have no justifiable reason for having one)

>It looks pretty - but how do they get all the working bits in the monitor thingy?
Well they can get a complete computer in a laptop, and that is even smaller.
In fact if you ever look inside the case of a desktop PC you find 90% is air. There is almost nothing of any size inside a computer case, the largest thing is the power supply.
