I've tried that but nothing happens. Most keyboards I have sued have a Fn key, in blue, bottom left hand of keyboard. Thanks any way.
The FN key is there to provide added functions not catered for by the top row. As has been stated, you do not need it merely to operate f1 - f12.
The F keys don't need fn to work.

Just hit F5 and watch your page refresh...

Actually just realised that I was asking wrong question! I have a lap top but the key board doesn't work because my dog spilled coffee on it - bad habit for a dog!
Any way, I now have a replacement keyboard but need to access the extra function on the F keys - i.e. I need F4 to allow me to bring up the output option, so that I can use a projector.
Any ideas? Sorry for confusion.
You can't access the extra functions from a normal keyboard.

the extra functions are only a quick shortcut to most things anyhow and they can be enabled or disabled another way. for example to switch graphics output you need to look at the syystem tray icon for your graphics card and use the option there to do it.
