Sending e-mails

I Use Microsoft Outlook for sending & recieving e-mails. I have 3 seperate accounts with different ISP's that usually work well. One account however is insiting in sending an e-mail that doesn't exist. As a result the send & receive progress is constantly going & popping up with an error box.

There is no e-mail in the outbox, so what could it be trying to send & how do I stop it? I've tried the cancel e-mail option but as soon as I need to send legitimate e-mails again it trys to send the phantom e-mail.

Un & re-installing the account has also made no difference. Any help anyone?

Thanks!

If the email is attempting to be sent from your default email address in Outlook then the worst case scenario is that you have a virus which is trying to email itself somewhere.
In the unlikely event that this is the case, you should scan your PC with your own antivirus prog and also do a free online scan at one of the many websites which offer such a service:
e.g. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
I has this problem once. Scanning for virus and spyware didnt do anything. Also, my Outlook sometimes wouldnt send the email, just hold on to it in the Sent items folder.

Thanks guy's. The problem is there isn't an e-mail in my out box to send. It's a phantom e-mail that is attempting to be sent from an old e-mail account (which is not default) but that I still occasionally have e-mails sent to.

My virus software (Norton) has scanned & shown nothing.

Any other advice?

If you have Norton installed, normally a box pops up when u send a mail to scan it first. I had a friend who downloaded an illegal copy and had your problem; about 35,000 were being 'sent' but there was no data leaving her pc. It even happened when not connected! - So she stole another one and that was clean! Iv youve scanned yr system, theres probly no real worry. But personally, i wouldnt trust it.

Thanks Potatoman, my copy of Norton is 100% Kosha so it can't be that.

It's not a major problem I just find it annoying when this error keeps popping up to tell me that it can't send this phantom e-mail.

Aaagghh technology!

Have you tried going to the home page of your ISP?
I had a problem like this, I went to the Services section of my ISP home page, then to web mail where I was able to view all incoming and outgoing mail and in my case I deleted the lot while I was in this view. This cleared a problem incoming message and the problem was cleared. Hope this helps.
