I'm tired of all the targeted ads I'm seeing on AB for restaurants etc in my area. If I clear all my cookies in firefox, can I be sure that it won't affect my history files ( I want to retain the details of sites I've visited).
I take it my cookies will build up again as soon as I start browsing the web? Are there any disadvantages to removal of all cookies as far as my browsing is concerned?

thanks

I compared it to what it was like WITH the annoying adverts, it wasn't noticable slower running adblockplus, is what I meant.
My mistake I'm sure!
However the question talks about removing cookies so I, for some reason, thought it was about cookies!
AdBlock also has the advantage that I can block any image that I choose, something that I do on this site, for example.

Chrome SHOULD take note of the Windows .. Hosts file.
Even Firefox should .. but is better modded at source.

If you want to try a Hosts file mod for Chrome ... See here and try it.
There are reports of Chrome ignoring user-added sites, tho.
I've used the hosts mod quite a few times to good effect.
