Military Records
I wonder if anyone can help. I've been casually doing my family tree & am stuck on tracing my paternal grandfather.
He died quite young (aged 48) in 1961 so my Dad, who recently passed & my Aunt have little memory of their Dad as they were young.
We know he served in the Navy during WW2 as we have The Atlantic Star medal, The 1939-1945 Star Medal & also a document from the US coastguard showing he was in port in NY on 20/05/1944. We also have several photos of him in his Navy uniform.
However, I cannot find any record of him on the military searches: Ancestry.com or Forces War Records. We'd like to learn a bit more about his military career & also what ships he served on.
What can we do??
TIA
