Any excuse by our Lords and Masters to deny us any celebration.

Unless said celebration has zilch to do with this country - then its all fine.

It must be predicted to be very bad if the authorities shut down a party.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿this is supposed to be the Scottish flag.

It is disappointing, especially for the huge number of visitors who come to Edinburgh for the celebrations.  Here 30 miles south (on the coast), it is windy but, so far, nothing out of the ordinary.  The concert in the Gardens has been cancelled previously due to rain.  One thing - the hotels and pubs will be busy 🍾 🍷

I wouldn't want to go to outdoor events in very bad weather.

^naomi...it's only a "wee touch of wind and rain"...according to our resident expert.

Bet TTT turns out to be correct.

Thre seems to be some sort of pleasure from the likes of the MET and MSM to whip the fear of God into everyone.  Got worse since Covid when they realised they could control the masses easily by fear.

As the big Yin said: "There are 2 seasons in Scotland, winter and June!"

On a much lesser scale, a planned New Year's Eve fireworks display on Blackpool prom has also been cancelled for the same reason.

Only time will tell whether these are wise decisions or not.

One can still commiserate at private homes.

H&S, if official events go ahead and folk get hurt, the organisers are dragged to court.

that's why they have insurance OG.

Insurance only pays out if steps have been taken to minimise loss.  If weather warnings are ignored, tough.

Blame the current compensation culture.

New Year has certainly not been cancelled in Scotland - as if!!

Edinburgh may have decided against their celebrations in light of the weather forecast, but they are hardly Scotland.  Stonehaven's fireball celebrations, to name but one, will go ahead.  Here's tae us, wha's like us?  Damned few, they're a' deed!

What Would Braveheart Say.....?

put another log on the fire Jarnet ( thx to Dr Finlay)

Insurance only pays out if steps have been taken to minimise loss.

we only will pay out if you have canelled the event - Jesus the times we live in

I doubt that - they will refund all monies

TTT would be the first to slate Scotland if the Edinburgh celebrations went ahead and the weather was as bad as expected!!

18:07 I don't know what you base that row locks on me old china. I always deride over reacting to the weather.

The rollocks that comes out of your mouth most days'me old china'

Edinburgh have cancelled the Hogmanay party before, in 2003/4 and 2006/7 due to the weather. It is a shame for all those who have travelled, but could you imagine the uproar if anyone got hurt?
