Does anyone know of a cheap hotel/b&b/pub to sleep at, near the bus station in Dudley? I would rather not pay more than 25 but realise this might be unrealistic.

p.s. Thanks Chris and Lou for your answers before...

No chance mate.

I don't know of any bed and breakfasts at all in Dudley. Cheapest option would probably be a travelodge.

And the Ward Arms Hotel which is just as expensive but truly awful.

There is no other accommodation near to the bus station.

There is a travelodge in Oldbury about 2 miles away and i think a premier lodge as well.

Dudley town centre is a right dump so nothing there.
The accommodation page of the Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council (which is the source I used for my previous suggestions) lists B&Bs for each of the different areas administered by the council. However, for Dudley itself, there is just one B&B listed for the whole town. It's only got one double room and one single room, so you can see that not a lot of people want to stay in Dudley! (However, at 25 pppn, it's within your budget).

The B&B is here:
http://www.dudley.gov.uk/sys_upl/templates/PT_ Directory/PT_Directory_details.asp?esLtr=ALL&I temId=131994&action=Display&pgid=4490&tid=150& DirectoryKeywords=&CategoryID=26&Q312=Dudley&O rderDir=ASC&OrderFld=

The location is 1 miles from the bus station. If you need to plan a route, go to Multimap and enter DY2 7AD for the location of the bus station, and DY1 3DA for the B&B.

Searching under the category for 'Hotels, Inns & Guesthouses' doesn't bring up much either. (the few places offered are either too far out or too expensive). The best option is probably the Cottage B&B at the Lamp Tavern pub. It's 0.7 miles (10-15 minutes walk) from the bus station, but it's 35 per night (according to the council website)

Reverend Funk... There is nothing wrong at all with Dudley!

I get MAD when people say it is a dump!!!
Nikki, Im sitting down in castlegate as we speak and I'm sorry but the town centre is a right dump - full of pound shops and cr*ap market stalls lol
But the crap Market Stalls covered in pigeon s**t are what give Dudley its charm.

I agree with you about the pound shops but, the are everywhere you go now!!

I have moved around the country abit and there is nowhere quite like Dudley!!!

Dudley is my home and I love it!!!
Ive lived close to Dudley all my life and my great grandad was the first illegal bookmaker in the town, but to me since Merry Hill opened all its "charm" has gone and if you want to take your life in your hands try drinking in the town after dark, especially JB's lol
Now JB's I would not go into... I am generally not that into places where you have to clean your shoes on the way out.

The saracens is quite good, if you want to take the p*ss out of chavs. Full moon is good for getting drunk cheapily with the old boys, The best pub probably has to be the Fellows.

Anyway, I would still rather go for a night drinking in Dudley than to the waterfront. I feel I am too old to go there now I am over 20. LOL!!!!

Oh and Dudley has the friendliest people.... except for the white lightning drinkers in the bus station maybe!!!
And the cider drinkers next to KFC lol.

Fellows is ok but a bit out of the way. The Full Moon? What can I say about a pub that has drinkers in the window at 9.30am.

Whereabouts in Dudley are you from?

My dads side is from Dibdale road and my mums from the Old Park Estate
I love JB's! apart from the 16 year olds, but you get them in all clubs. I'd rather go there and drink beer out of a plastic "glass" than go to the snooty bars full of chavs on the waterfront!

That said, I'm not originally from Dudley, and I've never been keen on the place. it is a bit of a dump, and i never go to the town itself. I live pretty close to Merry Hill, and its much easier to go there.
Netherton born and bred!!
Netherton aint Dudley lol
Kitty I struggle to see a band at JB's as by 11.30 when they come on I am half asleep lol
wow Niki you don't live far from me at all, then. I'm in Dudley Wood. small world!
I used to work on the saltwells road lol
The Saltwells pub...... That is a dodgy pub!!!
