European beach holiday for family of 4.
9 Answers
There's myself, Mr Spudqueen and our two teenage sons, aged 17 and 15. We're looking to book a weeks holiday in the sun for July/August which won't cost us a fortune, the only thing is we've no idea where to go. We don't want a 'lively' resort, but equally we don't want a really quiet one. Not really bothered as to country/island. Any ideas?

Sort of mini Disney, with three hotels (four soon as they are building one), a huge theme park, and a pretty good water park.
Stay at one of the hotels and you get free entrance to the theme park every day (which your sons will love).

Costa del Sol always sounds grimey, but you can spend a lot of time in Marbella/Puerto Banus (playground for the rich) if you stay just outside in Estepona - you'll find reasonably priced accomodation but will be close to the lovely harbour and beach area. The boys will love it.
Or, I've never been, but I hear Croatia is the new place to holiday. The beaches are supposed to be fabulous and I should imagine there'll be places that are fairly undiscovered by tourists.
You book amazing deals with expedia etc and use moneysupermarket.com for great deals. We booked a week at the lakes in Italy with them, got a fantastic deal, the weather will be amazing in July/august time and may just tick all your boxes in terms of being not lively but definately not quiet - an all round classy, and relaxing place to spend your holiday.
Hope this helps, have a great holiday!!

By chance we found Fanis Hotel, Polichrono, Halkidiki. This is mainland Greece, fly into Thessalonika with First Choice. 3 star but excellent rooms looking onto pool with beach across road. Cheap food, drink, friendly people, glorious weather, dolphins and totally safe. Bars along the front but peaceful beach resort.
Better than Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus Italy imho
